This is the most thriller-leaning on the list, and definitely the most lit-fic, but I have to recommend it highly because I am a sucker for stories that follow characters through their lives.

This book made me cry. I cared about each family and thought about the story whenever I wasn’t reading.

This was less horror and more horror-leaning fiction but I loved it, loved the dual timelines and the lore and the writing.
