My hottest hot take is about elected school boards - extremely low turnout elections where trustees are often acclaimed (especially Catholic/separate boards). They’re not actually democratically accountable in any sense.

Are the state of the parks in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal not democratically accountable because they don’t have some stupid directly elected board?
