Spotted someone moving a couch in their truck. Ah they must be moving. Ah they must have a cat.

Watching Star Trek First Contact with a couple hundred Trekkies on giant screens on the floor of a Vegas Casino is something special.

Thanks to the new owners of the Rio for showing the #STLV convention some love. They put on a Trek movie every night - Galaxy Quest on Sunday!

Throwback to the time I was an invited speaker at my undergrad alma mater, and my mineralogy/petrology prof and I rescued one of those food delivery robots after it yeeted itself into a very deep hole.

First time getting flash on a whim. First tattoo on my arm. Love this little dude.

Four short, thin vertical black lines are over the halo giving it the feeling of a little *pop*. The style is new American traditional. The tattoo is about 2” tall. The skull is looking to the right of the image, so it faces forward on the body when the arm is down. Fun fact: a tattoo with a face should always face forward on the body. Always. No exceptions. This is a universal and strict rule in tattooing. A face looking backwards doesn’t sit right on the body, and some feel it represents negative vibes that don’t belong in the tattoo. But, mostly it just looks wrong. Another fun fact: a tattoo doesn’t need to “mean” anything. It’s a piece of art. It can absolutely represent something if you want it to, but most tattoos have no meaning whatsoever. There is a sense of freedom that comes with this attitude. Lots of things that happen to you, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, are permanent. A tattoo is one of the only permanent changes to your life that you have any control over. Most people with multiple tattoos will agree. Even if their first tattoos have meaning, it’s common to get additional tattoos “just because”. Look at it this way: if you want a tattoo but worry you’ll tire of the design, you can instead realize that it reflects a part of you at the point in your life when you got it. You can be proud, nostalgic, or ashamed of your past, but that past is a part of you and your story. That said, consider whether a tattoo has societal implications or represents a famous person. Public perception of that person or that ideal can change, as can your own. You can cover up a tattoo or remove it ($) if part of your journey requires removing that ideal from your life. Many shops will cover up Nazi or other hateful symbology for free. If you’ve done that, I’m so fucking proud of you for growing and celebrating it 🌈
