Yes. She also wanted a more fashionable wardrobe. While The Lucy Show definitely has a different dynamic than I Love Lucy, I do like that Vivian's hair and wardrobe are on par with Lucy's.
By season 6 of ILL, Vivian was sporting a longer, more fashionable hair style. She had better clothes too.

Lol. Even by the time "A Summer Place" was made, Ethel Mertz herself no longer had the Ethel Mertz hair and hadn't for a few years by that time.

My Jimmy and I watched The Fury last night on TCM after Mario's review that it was bonkers. It had Kirk Douglas, John Cassavetes, and Amy Irving. It was definitely bonkers.
