My opinion of my own writing may be strapped to a dunning-kruger see-saw as I painstakingly chip away at improving it, but I can honestly say, at least the opening paragraph slaps.

The creature was a cat, shadow-bodied and wearing its bones on the outside. Its skull and spine shimmered with slight iridescence and where it moved it left rainbow ripples along the edge of reality.
