I was planning on having some bullethell moments and was worried about that

My moving away from Unity was mostly because of what they did a while back. I'm definitely interested in alternatives and will check out GM. I had also made a practice world in Unreal and that was the last thing I used that's why I asked. This is good info regardless.

I had started a bit of practice on a 2d roguelike many years ago in Unity but I'm thinking of starting over from scratch in Unreal Engine. It's not that I have that can pulled up at anytime.

I've tried drawing a couple but there's very little confidence there. I'm more of a programmer. I'd like to know more about optimization and stuff like best practices. Even any books would help

I'd say the game is 7/10 but my experience was definitely like a 5.5/10 maybe a 6/10.

I panicked a bit but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be so I used the same strat of Ultima and Cura/Curga, not all my chars had Curaga. And again the guife said he'd be a pain but the most he did was set my hp to 1 but I just kept healing over it then he just Died.

Then came Kefka's final section and I had to order my chars 1-12 so I just put my strongest at 1-4 and the rest on whatever number. The fight consisted of Dual cast Ultima, normal Ultima and chainsaw with Curaga mixed in but then my Dual caster died and I wasn't at Kefka yet.

The final boss fights were won by pure luck and brute force. The guide said they would do some crazy debuffing and hard-hitting moves but they didnt for some reason so I got to spam Curage and Ultima.

Luckily since I was loaded from my money grind, I had bought a bunch of items and just spammed those along with curaga to keep my strongest alive. Putting the cursed shield I got way back on my samurai was so clutch as well cuz it purified mid of the final dungeon.

Then I just level grinded 4 characters for a bit thinking it was the other games and I'd only need 4. Nope I had to make a 3 teams of 4 so I had to split my level grinded chars between the teams I was so done with the game and did not want to grind again. Most of the lower level chars died a lot

Well, I somehow missed the bold ass letter that said Shadow would not return if I didnt wait on him so that bummed me for bit. My next blunder was saving after Excalipoor was auctioned off think I was saving before it happened (by the time I realized I had alrdy wasted hrs getting 500k Gil).
