It's also just really helpful for me when creating fantasy monsters. Finding a similar animal to work with as a starting point.

I assume you are talking about Animalia in GURPS?
One of my favorite resources for running GURPS.

I'm also trying to find new people to play with, especially since I just moved and my new timezone makes it hard to play with my old friends as often as I would like, and it's hard to find new people to game with.

I agree with the sentiment. A trick I've used is to waste the PC's time, and not the table's.

When the players are running down a road to nowhere, have them make a roll and then based on that roll narrate them spending hours or days as appropriate before finding no sign of anything sus.

I don't follow everything he does, but everything I've ever seen of him makes me think he's a pretty cool guy.

In my Saturday GURPS game, one of the PCs is an Internet Demon, and she uses those spells, but I kinda of hand-wave the details at times. :P

I was much younger and dumber when I wrote them, and looking over them now, they have some issues, and are not organized cleanly.
It's really just a rough draft I never bothered to clean up.

GURPS Technomancer is a fun setting. I've never actually ran a campaign in it, but I was working with a friend to update the setting's timeline to the modern day.

I actually wrote a whole set of Internet spells for GURPS for that setting. I've used the spells, but still never ran the setting.

Have you heard of "Legends of Wulin?"
I only played it once like a decade ago and it is probably more Wuxia than Xianxia but might work for what you have in mind. It had a pretty unique set of mechanics from what I remember.

I believe this was explicitly true in the later rulebooks for 3.X D&D

It's been a really long time since I looked at those books, but lots of the gods were stated out (as like level 40+) and there were rules for Ranks of Divinity and they required a certain amount to worshippers to maintain a Rank.

It's a complicated system, that never really clicked with me, and isn't the kind of game I would choose to play, but I've got friends who love it, and I think it could work for something Ghibli like.

Though, I would prefer something PbtA or Fate powered.

One could probably use Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine for an authentically Ghibli-esque campaign.

I'm probably not the person to ask about Chuubo's since I've tried playing it, and it really is not my cup of tea, but its a diceless system, where character arcs are part of the mechanics.

Good to know I wasn't the only one to read her name that way.

This is an incredible breakthrough in streaming technology.

Understandable!
When I still ran D&D5e (never again), I made a house rule that if you were proficient in Martial Weapons, a spear became a 1d8 (versatile d10) weapon for you. Instead of d6/d8.

That's interesting.
To be honest, I don't know *how* to run short campaigns.

I've run one-shots, and I've run multi-year long campaigns.

The closest to a short campaign I've successfully run was about 6 months playing weekly. So around 24 sessions.

Oh cool. I'll check this out when I have time.
