Great question and I’m not 100% but I would think it would. Bear in mind that priests would not be compelled to testify in court, just report the abuse to law enforcement or the Department of Child Services.

Yep. If a person confesses CSA in a confessional and the priest reported it, it’s considered breaking the sanctity of the confessional and the priest would be excommunicated. Not a Catholic but I read that WA state signed a new law that priests are now required to report CSA. /1
