I've been a voracious reader my whole life and genuinely couldn't process what I was reading for over two years after I was infected. And the only reason I can now was through consistent effort to improve, to repair those neurons. I'm still not as fast as I used to be almost six years later.

I've heard those statistics before but never really understood what it meant tangibly. Like what sort of criteria is used to determine this. Now it makes a lot more sense.

In a sense. There's federal and state laws, which can vary quite a bit from state to state. And in many cases, companies dangle money in front of politicians to get them to pass laws in their favor (and therefore at the expense of workers). Our government is run by capitalism.

Most industries do not have unions these days, or they are extremely limited, and corporations have dedicated efforts to keep it that way. They put a *lot* of money into punishing people for trying to unionize.
