#53 - Strangers of Sword City Revisited (PC)

Dungeon crawler with a lot of complex systems. The difficulty is very high and there are very few ways to level up quickly. With multiclassing being pretty much mandatory to get debuff and crit resist, there's a lot of grind.

In Resident Evil DS, they seem to have rendered a new room for the problematic gas vents box push room. They rotated it and straightened the view so its more clear where to push the boxes, and even added floor grids. The puzzle is exactly the same otherwise. down to the ladder that gets in the way.

#49 - SaGa DS Remake (DS)

Really good! Super faithful to the original game to a fault, but the graphical and music upgrades are quite lovely. And I've got a lot of nostalgia for this game.

Any clue as to the synth? 1983 or earlier. I'm saying a Fairlight

#48 - Savior of Sapphire Wings (PC)

A remake of Students of the Round, which was a remake of Class of Heroes. The dungeon design is nice, the story is rather cozy and the crafting system makes sense. A step above CoH I think.

RetroAchievments is doing a two month long event where you plot a path through a maze and play games to get to the exit

#40 - DOOMBLADE (PC)

A really cool Metroidvania where you play THE GLOOM GIRL and team up with a super cool sword called THE DOOMBLADE to form the Doom and Gloom Rebellion.
Unique mouse and keyboard based movement where you click and zip around the screen, even going through walls.

You're a Dutch pop act in the 1980s and your label tells you to re-record your album for German listeners. Well sure. But how are you gonna change up the album artwork for the new market

#30 - Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (PS2)

The last Breath of Fire game. An effort from Capcom to try and make something entirely new, and produce a more challenging game then Breath of Fire IV. It's a lot of fun and has an interesting tone to it.

#28 - Hammerboy (Amiga)

Some sort of whack a mole thing. It's got about 4 levels and then loops. It's really not very good.

#27 - El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (PC)

An incredibly stylish bust mostly inexplicably beatemup where you have to punch your way to the top of a biblical tower so God won't flood the earth. Very pretty and weird.

#25 - Breath of Fire IV (PS1)

A gorgeous, but sadly rushed and incomplete feeling JRPG. It has a really strong start, but the story beats stop hitting and you mostly end up going from place to place with little rhyme or reason by the end. And they didn't even finish the ending.

#24 - Gungrave (PS2)

An aggressively anime game where you play a zombie frankenstein that's made of shooting. You blast up the anime mafia and fight big blob monsters, too.

#23 - Record of Lodoss War: The Advent of Kardis (Dreamcast)

A unique game in that weird post Diablo 1 pre Diablo 2 era when everybody was experimenting. It's got a really unique advancement system where you modify and buff your gear.
One of my favorite games.

#21 - Drova: Forsaken Kin (PC)

The first effort by German studio Just2D. Basically a 2D pixel art version of Gothic. Sublime vibe, great writing, secrets and surprises around every single corner. Worth it. Give it a try

#20 - Labyrinth of the Demon King (PC)

Unique first person Silent Hill-esque game by J. R. Hudepohl. Fun atmosphere and story, interesting puzzles with pretty unforgiving combat. Took me 10 hours, so its a bit on the short side. But its good for what it is.

#17 - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Switch)

Really fun metroidvania. Really tricky combat and some of the most crushing platforming sections I've experienced in a game like this. They seemed really obsessed with spike mazes.
