This is the issue. Many parents are now so used to minimising things when their kids are sick. Pertussis cannot be minimised. Neither can flu, Covid or any infection esp in the v young. It’s not normal for kids to be sick recurrently weeks on weeks with no respite during the year. Pertussis is nasty
Pertussis in infants is terrifying but it’s not just the cough.
It’s the fact that babies literally STOP BREATHING.
~2/3 of infants hospitalized have apnea (life threatening pauses in breathing)
Vaccination starts at 2 mo so it’s important EVERYONE is immunized to protect our littlest ones.
