Hi everyone. This is incredibly hard for me to write, but I’m reaching out because my family is in a moment of crisis that I can’t overcome on my own. I am an Afro-Indigenous woman, a full-time worker, and the sole provider for my two daughters — my 10-year-old and my 1-year-old — as well as the primary caregiver for my own mother. Every day, I do everything in my power to keep us safe, fed, and moving forward. We’ve been living in a hotel after losing our home when part of our household income disappeared. Since then, I’ve been trying to keep some sense of stability for my girls while searching tirelessly for a place we can call home again. But recently, things took a devastating turn: our car was towed with all of our belongings inside. Our car isn’t just a vehicle — it’s how I get to work, how I take my daughters where they need to be, how I care for my mom, and right now, it’s where we keep almost everything we own. The towing and storage fees have been piling up every day. Now I’m faced with impossible choices: food or transportation, diapers or gas, work or getting the car released. I’m trying so hard to stay strong for my daughters. My 10-year-old feels everything, and my baby depends on me for everything. They deserve stability. They deserve safety. They deserve a chance. We are trying to raise enough to get our car out — to keep me employed, protect our belongings, and give my girls the stability they desperately need while we work toward finding a home again.

Finished and wrapped the shoes I made for one of my last kiddos! I can't believe she's 7 already 😭 She's a punk rock fairy princess and I hope she dances around in these all the time.
A pair of off-white canvas shoes stylized to look like they've been doodled on. Beading in the color of the doodles has been added between the eyelets and the inner edges of the lacing and a beaded heart is where the Converse star usually goes on branded shoes. Like this is great and when we're reading together this works but sometimes I want this kiddo to be able to read by himself? Also I think he'd love if it was I Spy style of just a collection of items instead of necessarily a scene but it probably doesn't matter.

Throwing out a huge recommendation for this book, which is brief enough that you can read it at bedtime, simple enough anyone can get into it, not overly simple or condescending, and has species labels for young entomologists to look up more

It's helping to work on shoes for one of my last kids, she's turning 7 and she's a punk rock indigenous fairy princess so she needs kicks that match
Cream colored converse high tops stylized with doodles. The colors from the doodles match the colors of the beads that go up between the eyelets and the tongue. There's also a beaded rainbow in those same colors where the converse star usually is.

There are individuals (pictured: a Black Man, a White Man and a young girl, possibly indigenous or pacific islander) at large in the city who are posing as a recovery agency and approaching specifically targeted native men and women in our community. Their guise is offering addiction treatment to people out of state in California or Tennessee. The QR code on the "Relentless Recovery" flyer posted does not correlate with the flyer info- listing Oklahoma, not California or Tennessee. Also, there is no known facility or contact information for a facility attached to either the flyer or QR code. Upon independently researching last night- the men listed on the flyer/in the photo are NOT licensed Alcohol-Drug Addiction Councelors in any of the above mentioned states (Dept. Of Health and Human service public records for CA, OK, TN). They are driving a Slate Grey newer model Bronco that's believed to be a rental car. A community member said these three were spotted in Ponemah last week at a funeral service, but didn't belong there as no one knew them. Another relative said yesterday evening that they are using the girl in the photo to peer recruit our relatives into going to "treatment" and tried to force her into their vehicle. Peer recruitment is a tactic predators with intent to exploit/traffic will use in order to secure new victims. We've also had people confirm a similar human trafficking via body brokering scam involving medicaid and exploitation of native peoples has happened in other states, most recently Arizona. Alt text continued: Yes, this "agency" and these three individuals have been reported to police by multiple community members. However, now its up to us to keep our relatives safe. IF YOU SEE THESE INDIVIDUALS PLEASE REPORT IT TO MINNEAPOLIS POLICE THEN NOTIFY Nicole Mason, Wambli Zi Win, Melissa Bringsthem Jolene Jones @Southside kwes or Myself. We have eyes outside right now to help keep relatives safe, but there aren't enough of us out there right now to do it on our own. If a relative tries to talk to you about recovery services please refer them to Sobriety Warriors and warn them of these people who are not what they say they are. We keep Us Safe!

When I met Morwen, she was in really rough shape. I thought she had about 6 months. I am so grateful for the 5 years we had instead, and I will miss her forever. She had the biggest personality of anyone I've ever met and I love her. She passed in her sleep last night.

I did a really good job though
Black canvas shoe with the edges that the ties go on beaded in white, blue, orange, and gold. There are a lot of threads sticking out I still have to trim. Same shoe, new angle so you can see the beads up the heel.
