I loved this episode so much - the fan use was hilarious!
However, as a 60 y/o Essexer, I don't think in SE England we use 'arse' pn for 'ass'. For me ass in non-donkey sense would only ever be an appropriation of the US usage, & thus marked.
(Yorkshire husband concurs; thinks it's generational.)
