Yet another goddamn Icelandic writer.
oh hold on, this is real and not satire

so the joke is that his ego needs him to be the smartest man alive which makes him try to say things as if he understands complicated things and ends up looking like a fool

the joke is that after his ego got nuked from orbit by Joyce Carol Oates he’s been searching for films he likes on Twitter and commenting something like “excellent film”

This is for Philippe … why is Ligue 1 so much fun this season? It feels like everyone is playing with the handbrake off.

so, and this is more than grounds enough for the dismantling of the remains of the British empire and salting the ground, when cutting cloth and measuring clothes, and only then, a yard is 37 inches, or 93cm 98 mm, so it would be 8m 46cm 82mm long

the imperial measurement system is pure bullshit

Það eru samt alveg svona sirka milljón mismunandi týpur af súrum gúrkum, persónulega er ég hrifnastur af dill-súrgúrkum og austurevrópsku gerjuðu súrgúrkunum, en það eru alls konar týpur til.

I once stumbled on the Wikipedia page for this, and it’s wild

one of those songs I found through a sample, it was the basis for Blackstreet's No Diggity

It’s great. Fates Worse than Death is good too, but Palm Sunday is absolutely worth tracking down.

I love love love Kurt Vonnegut, but damn I wish he‘d been better at creating female characters. He could write imaginatively about women, but that’s almost exclusively in his memoirs (I’d put Palm Sunday in my top five with Slaughterhouse 5, Mother Night, Timequake and God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater).

Yeah, it’s vouchers, without any of the protections.

I could be watching Queen of Katwe right now, or Winter Sleep, or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, but I’m not. I can also not be watching the Color of Pomegranates 😊

I already have three streaming services with movies I barely ever watch, so a fourth is probably a good idea

Ending ObamaCare, replacing it with nothing.

I’ve been desperately trying to remember Kelela’s name. Thank you! I listened a lot to Hallucinogen back when it was released but couldn‘t remember her name or the album’s.

Book of the New Sun just about makes the cut (the last book came out in 1987) and it is wildly racist towards Asian people.

Though, I will give it that, it’s possible to read it in such a way that the main character is racist, though I feel that’s stretching a bit.

the Icelandic youth associations movement had the right idea, every sports tournament should include pancake and waffle making contests

hard to be stressed when bathed in the aroma of fresh pancakes and waffles

and eating pancakes and waffles after a loss eases the sting

you better run, you better take cover

It’s like video game music, with the video game sound effects left in (this is a compliment).

with the caveat that I think your take is likely right, apparently the logic of a year‘s extension is that it will make healthcare top of voters’ minds in next year’s election

but I think the senate dems wanted to de-escalate and jumped on the first option that made them feel smart and savvy
