Trump. Thinks of himself as a latter day Churchill. Actually far more like Chamberlain - except in orange.

In a time when people are given knighthoods as a reward for sycophancy and donations, how about giving a knighthood to someone who really deserves the title - Sir Kevin Sinfield?

Musk looked like a warmed-up Tutankhamun, then he had work done.

Now he looks like a danger to society

so far, I haven't seen many like Lorean on here. I wonder why she followed me on Twatter? 🙄

So many bots over there, my blocking finger has developed a callous (pun intended). Hope they don't come here.

Before 1984, farmers, like everyone else with a big enough estate, paid Inheritance tax. Now farmers are again to be charged inheritance tax but at 20% (half the usual rate) and only on a jointly owned estate worth over £3m.
In 21/22 only 117 inherited farms were worth over £3m.

Even he thought that 'excuse' "might look bad".
Funny he's never mentioned the reason he bought 1000 acres (which, in the UK, is a massive farm) was to farm it ...

Now I do know Wiki is about as reliable as the Daily Fail for verifiable facts, but this (mischievous?) version of why he called the farm 'Diddly Squat' was too funny to not to share. I think he really renamed it referring to the farm's lack of productivity
November 19, 2024 at 8:51 PM
Yes - he thought buying a farm just so he could shoot birds 'might look bad' - whereas buying a farm to avoid inheritance tax, play at farming, make neither profit or any significant contribution to the food chain, pay out £40k on a Lamborghini tractor too big to use, etc. looks good, doesn't it? 🙄🙄

If they truly believe they are a special case re: inheritance tax, there are many exemptions and lawful actions they can take in advance of their demise so their families can avoid paying inheritance tax, albeit at a lower rate than others with similar assets outside farming have to pay.

That's what he stated was his reason in an interview with the Times some years ago. He's now said that the real reason was so he could shoot pheasants but thought that 'might look bad'. He's doesn't appear to have said he bought it to farm ...

He's now said that the only reason he mentioned inheritance tax was because he really bought the farm just to shoot pheasants & thought that 'might look bad'. Maybe it is worse than a tax avoidance scheme but no mention of farming being in his reasons ...
