I know I'm getting into Donkey Kong territory, but I now have a rolling barrel in RPG Maker 2. Yet RM2's barrels normally stand upright, motionless. So I made this barrel rapidly lay on its front & back to give the illusion of rolling.
This has a few potential uses.

Plan B would be to nix the transparent walls and shorten them, and place the shadows in a way they won't be glitchy. No glitches to hide means I can have full 360° camera control, important in a 3D Platformer (plus RPG).
Not sure which method would be better.

Maybe I'll allow the back wall to cast a shadow, and prevent the player from moving the camera behind it. But I can't have any platforms touch the side walls, or they leave a glitchy shadow on them.
I also added camera control to see furthur ahead or below you.

RPG Maker 2 allows making walls transparent on the outside, but walls that cast shadows HIDE shadows when the camera's behind 'em. I can move shadows in the editor (the method's convoluted), but even pointing 'em down has issues.
Gotta figure how to design around this.

Opening gameplay!
...Well, not really, but I needed to allow the player to turn on rumble.
Also got a makeshift button display. RPG Maker 2 has ⚪ and ■ text icons, but no ▲. =(
And yes, you can be nameless. Because as the shadow in "Cassandra and the Shadow", you are nameless.

Behind the scenes. The vines are shrunken stalks, flipped over. The hitboxes are unaffected, but they're low-hanging by default.
Climbing causes (normally-invisible) pyramids to surround the player, interactive by "walking" up/down, solid so the player can't walk off the vines.

More RPG Maker 2, now with working vines! Had a hard time getting this to work. Some objects can't be triggered like this, and it was hard making sure the player didn't walk off the vines. The climbing was easy. The above platforms aren't solid. The snappy grab is satisfying!

I might be the first to figure out how to make a rising platform work in real time in RPG Maker 2. This would normally require a cutscene, or else the platform would rise through or drop under the player, leaving the player just hovering in place.
But no cutscene here! ^🐽^

While I usually prefer the 2D sprites of past #Pokemon games (especially Black & White), I think this generation really helped bring the 3D models to life. Like #Machop never really appealed to me 'til I had 'em hanging around me. They're actually really cute!
