yall idk i cherish this friendship (?) so much LIKE YALL ... do you all have any idea how challenging it is to find friends — or at least people you’re close with and relatively in good terms with — in adulthood ... granted i still suck at communication but this kind of bond is real nice too !!!

and even more so with msby when they see that the smug, obnoxious asshole who cracks corny jokes miya has turned into a tamed puppy in front of his high school vb team’s captain...

need good friends (🏳️‍🌈) + unrealized mutual pining atsukita who hug each other when they see each other after a long time and are surprisingly & casually touchy with each other that everyone around them are surprised

however — every touch, every hug whenever they greet each other, every ruffle of atsumu’s head and the magnitude of kita’s fond smile, that same denial strips away bit by bit.

(witnessing atsumu pine and realize his feelings for kita was a painful moment for osamu)

atsumu would be in denial at first. he didn’t want to admit he has feelings for kita — their former captain, goody-two shoes kita-san who turned out to be one of his close confidantes. kita’s just a good friend! (and atsumu’s good at lying to himself)

atsukita would develop so slowly out of atsumu’s carefulness and fear of ruining his friendship with kita. for all the things he’s confident and quite a bit reckless with, it’s kita who leaves him a bit unsure of himself.

however, there is a marked difference with kita’s friendship: the calm and peace of it; the fact that atsumu can display his worst self and kita wouldn’t flinch; that atsumu can be his bratty, petty self and kita will indulge; that atsumu can share his fears with and kita will listen.

osamu is essentially atsumu’s best friend by virtue of them literally growing up together and basically being twin brothers. msby has become his family and true friends he’s shared countless victories and losses with.

it initially confused me when i first heard the term irl bcs ive mainly heard it from ig reels but i never bothered to look it up... now i feel so bothered. it makes me so self conscious of how i eat in front of the others
