It’s my birthday eve eve eve and I’m making the debut of my new mobility aid, Rory the Rollator! Thanks for all the mobility aid advice! As you can tell by the last picture, I put it together this weekend and it was quickly co-opted by one of my cats, Barnes.

April Read #10/11: HoverGirls by Geneva Bowers. @gdbee.bsky.social ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Loved the art and the relationship between the two main characters, as well as their back stories and the clever defeat of the villains.

April read #9: Rules for Ghosting by @shellyjayshore.bsky.social. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. By far the best book I read this year so far. Trans protagonist, complex Jewish family, tons of humor and heart - plus ghosts!! The characters, prose, and relationships are top notch; I wanted to stay in this book forever.

April feels like it passed in the blink of an eye, but along with a great mini-vacation, I got a lot of reading done this month: 11 books read total! Book #8: A Holiday Homicide by @elliealexander.bsky.social. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 loved the gingerbread competition & characters; end felt abrupt. Still 💕 the series

Her freedom dance 😭 and her smile!! What a beautiful girl. I hope she has the amazing life she deserves in America. My cats were all once abused street cats but you’d never know it now 😂 although they’d argue only getting wet food once a day (+endless dry) is aboose 😂

Was able to take 3 days off work and have been on a delightful mini-cation with my daughter over the last 3 & next 2 days! Children’s museum & bakery for gluten free Easter treats; Easter weekend w/ my parents & partner; butterfly garden today & indoor waterpark tomorrow! Never been to the latter.

April Read #7: The Out Side, a comic anthology featuring all trans and non-binary artists including @sagecoffey.bsky.social, @aikosmith.com & @danacorn.bsky.social. One of my favorite reads of the year so far - full of honesty, hope & trans life affirmation; loved the various art styles. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

April read #6: Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston. So wish this series was around when I was a middle schooler! Amari is a delightful protagonist and I love her magical school and world and the supporting characters, especially her “unturned dragon” roommate, and her love of family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

So behind! 😂 April read #5: Death at the Dinner Party, Secret Bookcase #3 by @elliealexander.bsky.social. Another fun one! Love getting to see Priya take more center stage in this one; she’s a fave supporting character and love her sapphic relationship, as well as more of the town’s history! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Catching up on this! April read 4: The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman. My favorite Thursday Murder Club yet: suspenseful & interesting plot, lots of humor, interspersed with a surprising amount of bittersweet sadness and wisdom about aging and the mind. An easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

I loved the fact that artists took an AI “trend” back and made their own awesome art out of it! I am anti-AI but not an artist - BUT I live with an artist, my 11 year old daughter! This is her first ever commission, which she’d tell you proudly - I paid her $10 & will cherish it forever 💕

@elliealexander.bsky.social You - and specifically your protagonist Annie - have corrupted me: I haven’t watched a show with a plot since December & have only been watching home & food stuff, but I’m reading A Holiday Homicide and Annie hasn’t just gotten Liam hooked on BritBox, I’m watching

Perfect Sunday afternoon after going to church & potluck, running errands & starting tackling the biggest doom piles in preparation for impending move - tucked in bed, jammied up, cuddling with all 3 kitties & my ereader! Now we just have to decide what to watch & what to read! 📚🌎📚💙

April read #3: Witchlight by @hugbox.bsky.social. This was another fast paced fantasy graphic novel that I really enjoyed; loved the main characters and all the people they met along the way, and the charming art! Loved the ending - there were some shocking high stakes but they resolved cozily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Back into my reads for this month so far: #2: Squire by @saraalfageeh.bsky.social & @nadiashammas.bsky.social. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5. Beautiful art; fast paced realistic fantasy with great characters & a compelling plot. Not what I normally read with the war/dynasty plot but it was gripping and I ended up ❤️ing it!

March reading! Despite being in a reading slump most of the month, I was able to read 6 books and stay pretty on pace toward my year goal of 100! I thoroughly enjoyed all 6 books. The one 5 star book & my favorite was Returning Home to Our Bodies by Abigail Clarke @abigailroseclarke.bsky.social

Just did my grocery order for the week…really hope this is based on the picture and not the title of the item, because oven roasted chunky knit baskets do not sound very delicious 😂 😭

Relatively chill weekend to myself ahead; 3 books behind my goal. Finished Friday fully caught up at work so hopefully this weekend will be my time to catch up on reading despite a slump. Armed with a lavender latte, lavender lemonade, & cute cats; hope to get some house stuff done too. #Caturday 📚💙
