Working on my oil painting skills and learning a realistic style called tromp l’oeil i.e. deceive the eye. These days we just take a photo of a loaf of bread and glass of wine but back in the day artists had to be meticulous. What do you think of it? Did I fool your eye? Sorta?

This is Mr. Bearbear, a Mainecoon cat who lives in Portland, Or. Something really came alive when I painting his eyes, I caught the glow.

My first gallery show opened tonight and I completely enjoyed how comfortable the owners made everyone feel. I have 40 paintings on display and they fill up the front gallery! Paintings will be in the ArtRat Gallery in Grand Rapids, MI until the end of January. Stop by if you’re in the area!
