I have two more days left in Japan and I’ve been having such an incredible time with two of my favorite people 🥰

Survived my first Asia flight (I’ll never complain about Europe flights again) and have been having a blast exploring Tokyo Disney my first few days here, but reallyyyy looking forward to Star Wars Celebration starting Friday! ✨

As it’s #InternationalAsexualityDay I’ve got to rep my historical pirate trilogy that features several ace characters of different stripes! It meant a lot to me, as an ace person, to write that kind of representation and get it out into the world. 💜🖤🩶

We’ve always been here! 🏳️‍🌈

Finished Mask of Fear by @alexandermfreed.bsky.social recently, and it is truly one of the best Star Wars books I’ve ever read! Also, deeply cathartic for current times (and also important to my Bail, Padme, and Obi-Wan friendship emotions).

One of those books where I needed to lay down after 😭

Found out yesterday that Sailing by Orion’s Star, the first book in my trilogy, was in this LibGen database that was used by Meta to train AI, and wow, I don’t love it!
When Meta started developing its flagship AI model, employees faced an ethical question, Alex Reisner writes. The program would need to be trained on a huge amount of high-quality writing to be competitive with products such as ChatGPT. Should they just pirate it?

I’m such a Star Wars book girlie, but halfway through this one, it’s got to be one of my favorites. It is such a detailed, smart, emotional and varied look at a new authoritarian government that has echoes of our current, uh, situation in the US. Also, it has my man Bail Organa front and center ✨

Got to see this last week at Signature Theater, and in this climate?? It HIT. It always does, but especially right now.

Recently found out about @queerliblib.bsky.social and was so excited to donate the cost of my books to add to their collection! As a librarian and a queer author, I was hype to see their good work 🏳️‍🌈

Went up to NYC this Valentine’s weekend for a little escape from the DC chaos to see Luna, Luna, an art carnival that premiered in 1987 and has been restored. Not only did it have a lot of Keith Haring work, but it talked about accessible art as a mode of joy and a weapon against fascism. 💙

Removing trans folks from the Stonewall website (when the T is present in all the plaques and signage, I was just there!) is ASTONISHING. Funnily enough, I was just reading about Stonewall in my book on the Village Voice, and you just can’t erase it no matter how you try. 🏳️‍⚧️

Reading this book to complement some others I’ve been reading about the AIDS Crisis, and it’s been a balm with the uh, everything of it all. 🏳️‍🌈

Thank god it’s Friday, because being a DC resident this week has been some kind of hell.

Just finished this gorgeous historical novel based on the life of famous Chinese female pirate Ching Shih over the weekend, and for me, it’s a great example of what I’ve been looking for in the nautical fiction arena. Character driven historical fiction? Always sign me up. Can’t recommend it enough.

In exciting news, I was checking out library sales for The Constellation Trilogy today and a library in?? New Zealand?? Bought the whole trilogy at once! I’ve gotten a good amount of library sales for a small indie writer, but not in another country so, that’s neat 😍

Finally got to see this and 😭😭

(It was soooo good)

I was in New York this weekend and despite going frequently I hadn’t really gone to check out some of the queer history sites. After the election (and because I’m currently reading a book about the AIDS crisis) I opted to this time and it made me feel some kinda way about my community 🏳️‍🌈

I heard that this week was #aceweek? I might be coming at the tail end, but evergreen reminder that my pirate trilogy has three major ace characters! 💜

Was losing track of my book/histfic writer folks in all of Twitter’s weird algorithm mess, so hopping over here in addition! Hello hello

Gave a talk recently about my books and the importance of queer representation in historical fiction, and it was such a delight! 🏳️‍🌈 I got to chat about a topic I love, recommend other authors, and got really good questions. Was excited to sign copies for a giveaway!
