It was an extremely emotional afternoon as Governor Evers signed Bradyn's Law here in Central Wisconsin. Bradyn's mom Brittney listed off the names of the dozens of kids who died by suicide after being sextorted by online predators.

I stopped by the state capitol tree lighting ceremony yesterday. It was so great to hear from Wausau middle schooler Ellie about what the learning tree means to her.

I've never felt something quite like walking through the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum with my Japanese host family on the 60th anniversary of the bombing.

Here we are in a moment of levity by the Peace sculpture.

There were about a dozen turkey vultures swirling over the quarry at Rib Mountain tonight. Also present, smokey haze from the wildfires.

Five decades later, the stories of our Afghan allies are eerily similar to the stories of our Hmong allies.

As Americans, our word is our bond to the folks who picked up weapons on our behalf. We cannot allow xenophobia to unravel our honor and the promise of America to those same allies.

Today they officially released the report and it's pretty interesting -- and particularly timely as we continue discussions on tariffs along with other economic policies that affect our local and international economies.

My not-so-humble brag here is that I'm listed in the acknowledgements 🤣🤣

During my six week stint post-mayor last year, I helped Matthew Goodman and Allison Smith from @cfr.org by introducing them to the Wisconsin heartland and the people who could share their insights on economic pressures and policies that folks care about here in our communities.

Martin Marty was one of the good ones. I met him in 2012 and I wish I could remember what he said but obviously, I was very excited.

Ummm. What?! And she reminded me that her grandma's last name was Gruber before she married my mom's grandpa. When we got home last night she sent a photo of her grandma to me and it seems like she might be right.

Happy Saturday.

But it's a dry cold.

It's below zero in my part of Wisconsin. So tell me, when I checked the doorbell camera, why I saw my husband outside barefoot on the snowy, frozen pavement.
