The fear might still be there, but we’re posting anyway.

We have people who need to hear from us out there. Let me know if you were the one that needed to hear this today. #LinkedIn #PersonalBrand

It got to a point in my career where I couldn’t NOT post. I couldn’t NOT share.

I HAVE to tell others what I know. It’s oozing out of me. I think it’s because I’m a teacher at heart.

Your frustration for not putting yourself out there, for not sharing what you know, for not doing what you see others doing and getting the recognition for it, for not helping others when you know you have crucial info for others, is what’s going to help you overcome any hesitation you might have.

What are those questions that pop into your head right before you hit “post”?

* What will my boss and colleagues think?
* Do I really have anything worth sharing?
* What if a troll leaves a negative comment?
* What if no one likes or comments?
* What if my post gets taken the wrong way?

I’ve thought all of these things before and during speaking engagements.

We’re proactively picking up a microphone and thrusting ourselves onto the proverbial social media stage, all eyes on us, and we want our moment in the spotlight to go perfectly.
January 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
It’s a fear very similar to public speaking and why so many shy away from that too. What will everyone in the audience think of me? What if I forget what I was going to say? What if I trip on the steps walking onto the stage? What if the clicker stops working and my slides mess up?

We’re proactively doing something that makes us stand out, that goes against the grain of the 99% of LinkedIn users who don’t post & the majority who don’t use these platforms to build a personal brand. We’re signing up for the spotlight and we feel like everything’s on the line when we hit post.
January 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
You’re afraid to post. If we’re being honest with ourselves, I think we’re all a bit afraid to post, me included.

But why? It’s a risk.
January 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
But when I dig a little deeper, it turns out that beneath that feeling of not knowing what to post lies one common roadblock: fear.
January 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
And that is valid, as building a
personal brand based on all the knowledge that you’ve built up over the years can be wildly overwhelming.

Although, that part is actually easier than what’s lying underneath as it only takes just a little time to plan out their next three posts to get them going.
