Some of my best things in life are:
Beagles (but all dogs too)
Drinking tea
Reading copious amounts
Watching films
Sleeping

What are yours?
I can’t listen to murder/crime audiobooks when I’m in the car alone at night. It’s children’s stories all the way then 😂

The irony of certain people on X talking about echo chambers is completely lost on those same people.
I do recognise the need for people to discuss their different opinions - it’s vital for an element of understanding and accord - but that can’t be achieved when being threatened or abused.

Oh I loved this series! Thank you for reminding me how much!

Snap with the Silver Chair! I think Puddleglum is my favourite character from the series - although I’m not sure what that says about me!

I don’t have a clue, either! Although, with me I’m not sure on my contribution is to a lot of things 😂.

This has been my experience too! I actually managed to have a political discussion with somebody where we didn’t agree and yet there was no name-calling. I’m not going to lie, it felt weird after so long! Very nice, of course, but weird.

It’s just wonderful - although that scene in Barbie did make me laugh!

That was my favourite television when I was 7! 😂 I’m not sure what that says about me then/now but I LOVED that P&P and still do!

This is AMAZING and genuinely brings me so much joy! How brilliantly wonderful ❤️

It’s interesting, isn’t it? Having to wait for history to happen can be a pain! I would quite like to have a bit of boredom politically and globally please! Just those normal days where the news can’t find a lot to report would be good!
November 18, 2024 at 11:21 AM
I guess that’s why I wanted them to go on and on, I could have read about Spiller and Arriety’s adventures forever!
November 18, 2024 at 11:17 AM
I’m not saying the systems perfect or that all vaccines are, just that we can’t blanket all things as bad/good, even though we might want to!
November 18, 2024 at 11:16 AM
I just don’t understand why people would want to die from illnesses we can prevent? How over-privileged are we that we can choose to deny life-saving/life-improving vaccines?
November 18, 2024 at 11:15 AM
Oh but didn’t she meet Spiller in ‘The Borrowers Afield’? I do agree at points it did go from bad to worse for them! I guess I just really wanted them to be real and/or to be a borrower myself!
November 18, 2024 at 11:13 AM
Again, I’m not saying there weren’t points on both sides of Brexit I agreed with, there were but I preferred to look at experts viewpoints, not the multi-millionaires/billionaires. There’s no point being sold an idea if there’s no possible way to make it a reality. Plus all of the scaremongering!
November 18, 2024 at 11:10 AM
Yes, Brexit has done one on us! Again, people voted for politicians who said what they wanted to hear, rather than examining the facts and looking deeper. I guess what we’re really seeing is a failure of the education system - but I would say that, I work in education 😂!

I think internal problems (cost of living etc) plus external issues (climate crisis/wars) also do play their part in ‘local’ politics. It is also a privilege to be able to think about the ethical issues in politics and sometimes it’s a choice between bad and worse.
November 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM
Oh I’m in the U.K, our political system is FULL of issues here too 😂. I was lucky enough to attend a Fane show with Bernie Sanders in January and he warned what was coming if the Democratic Party didn’t change/work with those who were upset/unhappy. It was such an interesting talk.

Gosh I love this and it’s on the recommended reading list I compile for the children I teach. I feel sad every time I finish reading the books - I wish they went on and on!
November 18, 2024 at 10:50 AM
Can I just say that it’s so lovely to have a proper, balanced, non-aggressive discussion on a social media app! We may not end up agreeing (who knows?) but it’s so good to be able to discuss it in a nice way! Thank you!
November 18, 2024 at 10:46 AM
Plus the whole banning of books thing by certain states is just very peculiar, at least this bibliophile believes!
November 18, 2024 at 10:44 AM
I think also we have to consider how far to the right some of these right policies are. Abortion might be considered a policy from the right but the extremes that it is being taken to e.g. not being granted immediately when foetus is in the fallopian tube is an extreme form of that policy.
November 18, 2024 at 10:42 AM
I think it’s an interesting discourse about what could be considered left/right policies- I know that many parties jockey for the centre as this is perhaps where most voters lie. I do see an irony in Trump et al criticising corporations, though!
November 18, 2024 at 10:39 AM
I find it interesting that people are talking about ‘echo chambers’ in relation to this app - what, exactly, had X become?
