Contemplating fire and fire history in the White Mountains on this hot HOT 96 degree day. Keetch Byram Drought Index highest out of anywhere else in NH and crispy vegetation is showing it.

Off to the land of my birth Massachusetts for PTO. Affogato is my favorite dessert, and at some point this spring IG algorithms showed me this idea to make a "gas station affogato." 😱

I am not all surprised to learn the scene of this crime was somewhere along the Mass Pike.

A lot of going through office paperwork lately in-between website updating. Read an interview transcript on a 1924 diving Olympian who trained at Searsville Lake.

And I found the drilling contract for Baldwin Lake. 👀

Someone should compile these DJT impersonators 😂 a.k.a. heros among us. We had one in Mountain View today. 🤣😂

I could have sat on the barn porch all evening. BORR always reminds me of Henry Coe SP and the "hills of home."

Here is a cool panel of the p.o. leaves and neighboring plants to compare leaf shape.

Gratitude to Tommy Stoughton for a beautiful supplement (with R code!) from a Claytonia pub. Tommy used to be on Twitter when we were both doing dissertations in the San Bernardino Mountains.

Honestly, this was the best find of the day - by brother's short 1st grade essay. How many of us would love to leave the weight of adulthood for a moment, and return to this sweet innocence?

Eigth grade. Onto entire hand-drawn world maps with topography, and pop-outs.

I actually have a lot of feelings here. First - looks like a Geography PhD and becoming a Nat Geo Explorer was inevitable.

Map in a fifth grade state report. My cartography skills were growing.

I remember my teacher did a lottery with a deck of state cards to choose our topic, and we could trade. My shy self leveraged *hard* for Massachusetts... my family had just relocated from MA to the Bay Area, and I missed it.

We unearthed a little nostalgia at my parents' house this Mother's Day. Got 100% on my 4th grade map quiz. And L👀K at the purple outlines - this was the ditto machine era.

Introduced to the amazing California Educators Together platform and community last week. It was a privilege to participate in this Camping & Learning Design Institute with other educators and Nat Geo peeps.

Then our eve lecture on pumas + trophic cascades was amazing, PhD student Chinmay is a rising star for sure. 💫
