A few years back, Ahmad told me his story about leaving Syria, becoming a refugee, and searching for a home in the UK. In sharing it, we hoped it would help people walk a mile in his shoes.

As always, it is an honour to be able to publish such important voices - be it dissidents, censored voices or persecuted writers.

I had to pause the Rooney (Sally, not Wayne) because reading about grief when you’re grieving is all a bit much, innit? I rocketed through this absolute gem from Claire Fuller and it gave me the distraction I needed. Books are healing. Somewhat, anyway.
