Writer, Founder/Editor in Chief at The Apologist, Heavy-Metal mouth. I’m too online— I’ve lost the context. I want to be the OK Go of writing.
BUT I’m looking to do an interview with someone whose first deep connection to secular art came later in life, and I want to explore what that art is (high, low, in between!) and why it moved you so much. Would you be interested in thinking about this? I can give detailed idea of what I’m thinking!

You know, we may have lost the game, but I had one of the most important and exciting days of my adult life today, and I can’t wait to share more about that. So I’m taking this excellent picture of Luka stomping and using it as my “this is how I feel now” bookmark. I look forward to explaining why.

Thanks Last Syllable Lit for publishing an essay that is either about: sleep, intensity, acting, my stroke, my OCD, procedural television, a moment of kindness on social media, or @vincentdonofrio.bsky.social. I hope it’s the latter, but most likely all of the above. lastsyllablelit.com/procedural

So excited today to be publishing @justinsaysni.bsky.social’s essay, “Anti-Nihilism, Tenacity, & Sonic the Hedgehog” at @theapologistzine.bsky.social. Even if you’ve never sped through the game, this resonates. open.substack.com/pub/theapolo...

Also, my new hobby is “does it hot honey?” So far, the answer is “yes” across the board (especially in tea!), but I think I just found the perfect 10K breakfast.

@actualbenfolds.bsky.social In case you’re worried about the company you’d be keeping, while I’m a little bit of a weird art type, here we are with Brett Morgen right after “Moonage Daydream” came out, with Harry Lyles Jr. from ESPN, with Rhett Miller, and for good measure, me teaching Adam Sandler.

@thousandfold.bsky.social Wait WHAT you are an Elliott Smith guy too?!? This is my Ferdinand the Bull, and one of the only things that was on my “can’t leave without” list when I finally got to LA for the first time was to visit the wall!!

Just saw an article called “What the Dallas Mavericks have to do to Win Back Fans,” and I scrolled past it as I thought “Time Machine.” Which… I stand by it. It still looks like the wrong colors, but my new jersey has the right last name on it, and that’s what matters. #lukafanforlife #lakersconvert

Thank you to @marchxness.bsky.social for always championing my dorky essays and for introducing me to a whole community of writers who love out loud. And if you ALSO love things like “Rock DJ,” please check out The Apologist…! Until then, here I am dressed in my 2000s throwback.

Yesterday I had the absolute delight of teaching @annavanglamazon.bsky.social’s “The Legend of the Convenience Store Cashier” for the second time. The students love it almost as much as I do. (Thanks for SSL, Aaron!)

@aschulthise.bsky.social Hey, it’s you! I love you! <3 <3 <3 I meant to send you a silly picture because I thought, “Amber would like this shirt.” I’m having a strange year (maybe we can FaceTime soon?), so I’ve been “away,” but know that in my self-imposed quiet, I’ve missed you dearly.

We all listen to the same workout music in December, right? #mychemicalromance? As the President of the Elder Emo Society (and the heartsister of @erynadele who is taking me to SEE the Black Parade next year…!), can confirm, it’s fun to run a 10K with Gerard Way in your ear.

Oh hell yes, I’ve been hoping some Cowboys folk would end up over here. Me in my ceremonial Sunday running gear vs. me post-Turpin return.

If you’d told me I’d be in a collection with Diane Suess, Joy Harjo, Richard Siken, and literally dozens of my other favorite poets, I wouldn’t believe you— but in Kristie Daugherty’s “Invisible Strings, I got to write a poem inspired by Taylor Swift. Perfect Xmas gift for the Swiftie in your life!

One last reminder to VOTE FOR “ROCK DJ” through @marchxness— it’s what Kendall Roy would do! He’s afraid if he doesn’t vote for “Rock DJ,” he might die. Can’t take that risk! marchxness.com/thegames?fbc...
