Eight years ago, I sent my final manuscript to my publisher. Eight years ago, I released my first book into the universe. And when I get notes like this, I’m reminded why we write. #whywewrite #author #immigrantstories #education #highered #educator

Thank you, AAUP! “In the United States, there is no king,” the lawsuit states. “The President can exercise only those powers the Constitution grants to the executive, and only in ways that do not violate the rights the Constitution grants to the American people.”

No. Absolutely not.

Women in the military. They’ve fought, won, and lost. They’ve come home. They’ve died. Their stories matter. Their voices matter.

I pledge to keep writing my book about their stories, no matter how “subversive” the voices of American women in combat become under this regime.

Stay tuned.

An ex once told me years ago:

“Keep throwing rocks at the tank.

You might not stop machine, but you might break a window.”

The darkness is here.

Am I afraid? Yes.

But more determined than ever to gather my infinity stones, and to hold the line as much as I can.

We have to keep throwing sand in the gears. Some of that is using Trump’s own playbook of endless legal action against him. We have to gum up the works and grind everything to the slowest crawl possible. In short: resist. We can do this. We know how. No time for weakness. Let’s go!

I believe in my daughter. I believe in my interracial marriage. I believe in my right to write as a professor and scholar.

Throw rocks in the gears, friends. We might not stop the machine, but we can cause disturbances, disruptions, and delays. #democracy #righttowrite #humanrights #womensrights
