This weekend, we suddenly lost our dear Dr Latesha Elopre. She was a brilliant researcher & clinician, passionate advocate for health equity, the most considerate and kind-hearted friend, and a devoted wife to Chris, daughter to Glenda, and, above all, mother to Jacob and Gigi.

Beyond disappointing. Vaccine access (& development) is a critical domestic resource & vital to intl health (& security). Limiting access to vaccines = ⬆️ risk of preventable outbreaks. Also, when you gut public health, you reduce our capacity for prevention/response. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/25/h...

It is impossible to listen to the meeting without feeling a deep sense of sadness over how low we have fallen and how quickly. The lack of basic understanding of how vaccines are studied by those now with authority to vote and make recommendations on how vaccines should be used is heartbreaking.

If you want people to trust vaccines, you don’t fire experts and give the mic to people who’ve spent years casting doubt. That’s not balance. It risks unraveling decades of public health progress.

Trust is built through evidence, not agendas that reject science.

"What would happen if we stopped measles and Hib vaccinations in industrialised countries? For example, in the USA there would be an estimated 3–4 million cases of measles with 450 deaths, and 20 000 Hib infections with 600 deaths"
Will anyone find this acceptable?
