Exactly. I think the framers would have never expected that a would-be king would be elected president. Wasn't one of the purposes of the Electoral College to have people of good judgment choose wisely the incoming president?

Sure, in 2025. But I think the framers of the Constitution expected members of Congress to be men (back then, all men) of good conscience, and to act accordingly for the good of the young nation.
