Right. If it's historical fantasy or an alternative universe, yhe expectations are very different. That said, I adore the sort of historical fantasy that gets lots of small details right. That richer the world-building the better

I prefer stories that are accurate. If they aren't, I appreciate a note in an afterword that explains why a change to the historical record was made.

Yes! And then, often, there's a moment I think of as The Pointing Finger Drop ("the one in the braces, he done it"), when I go, "Aha! Now I see what this is about." The one in CARPE JUGULUM is one I'll long remember.
