“Deadly Edits” #3 w/a Kaitlyn Dunnett. A body is found during the demolition of one of the Catskills’ last great resort hotels, located on the outskirts of Lenape Hollow, hometown of Mikki Lincoln, retired teacher turned book doctor. Mikki quarreled with the victim only hours before . . . not good.

THE MYSTERY OF HILLIARD'S CASTLE was my first published novel (for ages 8-12). Kerry Odell is not enthusiastic about moving to rural Maine and their house there has all the makings of a haunted 'castle,' including odd noises in the night. Set in 1982. Available in e-book and paperback.

SCOTCHED, Liss MacCrimmon Mystery #5, takes place at Moosetookalook, Maine's first annual Maine-ly Cozy Con. I had a wonderful time writing this book and a few real Maine writers have walk-on roles. I appear as the author whose name Liss can never remember.

THE KING'S DAMSEL is a novel I wrote as Kate Emerson. Set at the court of Henry VIII, the inspiration was a letter in which the Spanish ambassador reported that the king's interest in an unnamed "damsel" had provoked a quarrel with Anne Boleyn. Still available in e-book and audio formats.

From my first teaching job, first grade at Pettingill School in Lewiston, Maine in 1969 as a "full-time substitute" until I left in 1970 to join my husband in Jacksonville (after he finished boot camp). Teaching kids that young was not a good fit for me, but hopefully I did no harm.

For #BacklistTuesday, NELLIE BLY, A BIOGRAPHY, is another of my books for young readers age 8-12. Originally published in 1989, one chapter was included in the Open Court Reading Program, Level 6. This slightly revised reprint edition is available as both an e-book and a 64-page trade paperback.
