Earlier this year we decided to minimise local car journeys. We acquired a BOB trailer & later an e-cargo bike. Food bills lower as well as fuel costs as we don't do a car-based weekly shop so no 'just in case' items that get wasted.

Sadly there are many who don't, I took this photo a couple of years ago on the island of Scalpay because I was flabbergasted. Apparently the community had delayed removing the chains which locked the swings away for ages after lockdown too.

If you've not read her book 'On Gallows Down' I highly recommend getting a copy. Her second, 'Ghosts of the Farm' was published last week and I'm about to start it. Beautiful writing.

I did a workshop, here are some more stages. The first 2 are development of the base, then uprights are added. Very therapeutic

Escaped from the madness of the world for a day at the NT Heritage and Rural Skills centre, still very much a novice but was pleased with my efforts. Definitely improving with every attempt.

What a lovely evening, early supper at a restaurant we've been waiting for a chance to visit, followed by a Q&A evening with @nicolawriting.bsky.social discussing her new book. In a change to scheduled plan, after a train mishap by planned interviewer, her editor did a sterling job as understudy.
