Darned close. A relative did intensive genealogy research. She looked at a map of PA, 18th century and said "There's nothing there!" A few American Indian villages; a few towns.

In any case, it seems like people in power want to degrade public education so there are enough people with inadequate education and resources to fill low-paying jobs, with no chance of improving their state.(sorry - link is teachingamericanhistory.org/document/mud... )
Mud Sill Speech
A major slavery apologist of the antebellum period, James Henry Hammond served in the U.S. House of Representatives and as governor of South Carolina before entering the U.S. Senate in 1857.

We always hear that the poor were lazy (Johnson/Nixon admin), then criminal (Reagan). Now, from more than one right wing source, that the poor are mentally deficient. Perhaps this goes back to mud sill theory. teachingamericanhistory.org/document/mud... @hcrichardson.bsky.social address this pls?

Bush 43 nationalized Fannie and Freddie in 2008-2009, and the government bought huge stakes in many wall street firms. I think they owned 89% of AIG, or one of the others. Now Trump is buying up the means of production. Socialists, all of them. 2/

I'm confused. Isn't government ownership of the means of production the basis of both socialism and communism? Harry Truman tried to nationalize the coal industry when the miners struck during the Korean War. He got thumped by the Supremes. 1/

Look up Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd, for starters. BTW, every attempt to overthrow the government and install fascism (like in 1933, 1940, 2021) has been instigated by Republicans.3/fin ("The purpose of the internet is to look at pictures of cats and get into fights with people you don't know")

who ran Strom Thurmond for President. Most Dixiecrats moved to the Republican party, which voted against civil rights and voting rights. Then, all of the Democrats that you're talking about in 1940 picked up and moved North, and the Republicans all moved to the South to form a new Solid South. 2/
November 16, 2025 at 7:43 AM
??? who's talking about 1940? BTW ever heard of the Solid South? Old Confederacy voted Democratic before and after the war. Pro slavery before; Jim Crow after. Republicans were progressive -see: Roosevelt, Teddy. Dems formally split in 1964 over Civil Rights: Democrats and Dixiecrats, 1/

I eat the leftovers: wilted lettuce, watery dressing. Don't care. Still good. As for trends: strikes me that this is an agrarian recipe. Milk/cream from cows, lettuce from the garden, everyone had vinegar, eggs from the chickens. Is your family agrarian? 2/fin

You're probably remembering it correctly; she may have used heavy cream, which would make a very thick dressing. Vinegar added to the cream makes it thick - temporarily before it separates. My dad used evaporated milk, which made a thin dressing, but still had the flavor. 1/

Tiger’s (feral) journey into sunroom; confronts very fierce Sweet Pea. He teases them through glass doors so they know each other.

IIRC, disability amount reduced by SS. Disability should provide records to SSA and avoid delay/fight with SS. SS examination was cursory.

Fried bread: OH MY GALL BLADDER!!! P.S. add butter to mashed potato/bread mixture.
November 15, 2025 at 7:34 PM
You can store it in fridge overnight. Nibble while mixing for taste (yeah right!) Nibble out of bowl when it’s in the fridge to check taste (Shhhhuuuuure!) Pick off brown part sticking out of turkey to check taste and done-ness (riiiiiiight). Recipe at least 150 yrs old. Grandma used to fry bread/2

Traditional PA Dutch potato/bread stuffing: peel/cook potatoes. Toast/butter bread. Wet with water/chicken broth, squeeze out liquid, crumble. Mash potatoes roughly. Don’t use mixer or ricer. Manual masher best (be brave). Onion/celery, salt/pepper to taste. Best brown on top, mixed with moist. 1/

Great hint. I never use enough cheese. Otherwise I make a great white sauce.

Recipe at least 60 yrs old.

Good idea. I do sausage (cooked)/cornbread/celery/onion/apples (I leave skin on)- chopped walnuts delicious but optional. sausage provides salt and pepper. Optional, esp. baking separately: Just a tetch of chicken broth or apple cider - moist but NOT MUSHY!

Also delicious in stuffed pumpkin.

Add some chopped or sliced onion. Pour dressing over cucumbers.

Dressing can also be used for creamed lettuce. Chop lettuce roughly. Mix in some onion. Mix dressing and pour over lettuce. Top with sliced or cut hard boiled egg. 3/fin

—Dressing: Light cream is best. Use part milk or half and half mixed with heavy cream. I wouldn’t use heavy cream.
—for each 1/4 cup cream, use 1 tbsp vinegar, 1/2 tbs sugar, salt (be careful: cucumbers are salted) and pepper to taste.

DO NOT MIX CREAM AND VINEGAR UNTIL JUST BEFORE SERVING!!!
