Maybe we should prepare the country to be willing to endure a shut down so we can not be threatened by it when the CR expires and we have the opportunity to negotiate again.

I think he wanted the shut down so that he and musk could still do whatever they want with no guardrails while blaming the dems for shutting down the government.

I think it was a trick. Trump and Musk wanted to shut down the government and blame the democrats for it while they took advantage of its being shut down to do more damage to our country. But I do understand how important it is to stand together against their unfair bill.
