Scholars in Cinema and Media Studies for Palestine has issued a call to boycott SCMS 2026.

While I had an amazing time at SCMS 2025, I can't ignore what I've heard since from SCMSSP. I will not be submitting to SCMS 2026 or attending the conference this year.
"BOYCOTT SCMS 2026 FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS, THE SCMS BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS REFUSED TO PUBLICLY ACKNOWLEDGE PALESTINE OR DECRY ANTI-PALESTINIAN RACISM AND THE ISRAELI GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE. INSTEAD, THE SCMS BOARD HAS: 1) IGNORED THE WISHES OF OVER 700 OF ITS MEMBERS TO MAKE A PUBLIC STATEMENT CONDEMNING THE ISRAELI SCHOLASTICIDE AND MEDIACIDE IN PALESTINE 2) ISSUED MASS MESSAGES TO DENY THE PERPETRATION OF RACISM AND HARASSMENT BY A PRO-ISRAEL AGITATOR AT THE 2025 CONFERENCE 3) DISABLED VITAL COMMUNICATION PLATFORMS FOR CAUCUSES AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS 4) INSTITUTED AUTHORITARIAN CHANGES TO THE ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL ELECTION NOMINATION PROCESS WITHOUT RATIONALE OR EXPLANATION SEND A MESSAGE TO THE BOARD. BOYCOTT THE CONFERENCE. Scholars of Cinema and Media Studies in Solidarity with Palestine (SCMSSP, formerly PSWG)"

I'm sure I'm missing some faves, but this list is pretty solid.
My NYT ballot for my top ten best movies of the 21st century, including: spiderman into the spiderverse, donnie darko, eighth grade, little miss sunshine, the lobster, dune part one, 13 going on 30, the lord of the rings #1, portrait of a lady on fire, and last but definitely not least, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

Learning how to paint Warhammer miniatures and it's a lot of trial and error. Emphasis on the error. But I'm having a good time so that's what matters!! Still a lot of highlights and shadows to add but the squigs are lookin' cute.

Had the Comics & Cartooning class today decide which comic is the most 'comics-est' - both last year and this year, the finalists were Calvin & Hobbes and the slabbed West Coast Avengers. Last year WCA won the bracket, but this year Calvin & Hobbes came out on top!!
