My work inbox is almost never under 500 (get several hundred a day).

My personal one with the junk? I do a full clear every 5 years or so, getting to that point again.

I don’t even see the number any more.

3D depiction of rainfall distribution across Great Britain.

England is a very dry place: London gets as much rain as Jerusalem.

With climate change, the south will need to prepare for even more acute water shortages.

Canada could do something really smart on Monday by launching round two of their application for H1-B visa holders and their families.

We risk our rights when the few who care fall into despair.

Don’t let the bastards get you down.

My partner has heard me talking about getting a telescope for 18 years, but it’s never been the right time (they’re not cheap)

What did they give me this birthday? A Celestron StarSense Explorer. I’ll now be able to set up my own Milky Way time lapse!

Today’s my birthday, so I’m officially middle aged!

Which means I can confirm that this is the most relatable Ozzy Osbourne moment.

America: 5 days off anytime other than thanksgiving and Christmas is a micro retirement.

Europe: it’s July, so let’s schedule our next meeting for September.

Iran has voted to close Strait of Hormuz: 20% of all oil/gas passes through here

This means a global spike in costs that’s potentially inflationary, as after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Worsening cost of living pressures, esp in the UK where our energy costs are linked to wholesale energy prices

#ShowYourStripes captures regional temperature changes: we shouldn’t expect only warming but also prepare for cooling

The potential collapse that of the AMOC/Gulf Stream could make the UK freezing 🥶

As a Canadian, extreme heat & cold can be adapted to, but UK infrastructure/homes right now are not

Some late climate stripes for #ShowYourStripes day

Below are Scotland’s climate stripes: I couldn’t select the Highlands only sadly

There’s been a massive change in temperature, which is consistent with my experience here

Even home builders now work through the winter because it’s so much warmer

“Peace through Strength” is such an Orwellian slogan, yet CNN & other outlets are falling into line

Simplistic “power” sounds smart until you realize it just means playing chicken

The US hopes that the rest of the world continues to try appeasement & diplomacy in the face of increasing US violence

I don’t think many appreciate how the Bush administration tried to legitimize their actions in Iraq

I remember how the US presented (false) info at the UN for possible WMDs

It’s not normal to unilaterally bomb nuclear facilities, especially with active diplomacy (JCPOA)

This is worse than 2001-03
