LAISPS unequivocally denounces the recent ICE raids and the repressive surge of militarized presence-including police, National Guard, and now Marines-across Los Angeles. These actions sow terror dehumanize vulnerable communities, and violate the fundamental dignity of those who live here. As psychoanalysts, we believen in a shared psychic fabric where the dehumanization of any group undermines the symbolic and emotional ground we all stand on. Authoritarianism does not stop at the margins; it seeps inward, threatening our very frameworks of thought, care, and relationality. As an institute, LAISPS is committed to protecting dignity safeguarding human subjectivity, and cultivating an understanding of how the social and psychic dimensions of being human are irrevocably intertwined. In denouncing the ICE raids and increased militarization in our city, we reaffirm our psychoanalytic responsibility to speak against policies and actions that seek to erode these essential foundations.
