'Beneath a Darkening Tempest,' grew out of my obsession with atmospheric rivers dropping narrow bands of heavy rain, leaving other regions in drought. I think of these storms as 'climate spirits', making their way into my paintings. #contemporarypainting #ecoart #abstractpainting

I paint in many layers, often drawing into the paint and exposing colors from earlier stages in delicate lines and textures. 'The Source of All Things,' acrylic on birch panel, 28 x 48 in. #contemporarypainting #abstractpainting #womenartists #art #painting

Kendrick Lamar's Superbowl performance is why funding arts and humanities matters. We have Kendrick because his teacher introduced him to poetry and writing.

I see the world as interconnected from the tiniest particle to the atmosphere, forests, and watersheds. 'The Space Between Heaven and Earth' explores these ideas. Acrylic on cradled wood panel, 36 x 58 in. Avail: Groveland Gallery, Minneapolis. #Minneapolisart #KatherineRosing #contemporarypainting

I'm working like mad to wrap up a complete overhaul of my website. I know the artists out there can identify with this! After more than a year of on-and-off work, I'm finally nearing completion. I’ll reveal it once it's finished! #behindthescenes #websitedesign #katherinerosing #artistlife

Detail from "Eggs," included in Strength in Delicacy, Christopher Art Gallery, Chicago Heights, IL -- last day! The beads are hand-tied in circles, an abstraction of the eggs laid by the emerald ash borer beetle in the ash tree's bark.

Detail from "Entanglements." The vase contains water collected from the Fox River, surrounded by root-like, sisal twine. Capillary action siphons water up the twine, then evaporates, returning to the atmosphere like evaporation from the forest canopy. #watercycle #environmentalart #forests🌲🍂 #sciart

"Entanglements," at Alan Priebe Gallery, UW-Oshkosh, a couple of years ago. So interesting how the space transforms the work. I explored the interconnections between forests and the water cycle in this iteration. #installationart #contemporaryart #art #sculpture #SciArt
