What I like even less about this & have not been shy about is the Santa myth being used to change behaviors instead of just teaching good values & addressing root causes. Telling kids to “be good so that you don’t get coal in your stocking” is an ineffective & harmful way to manipulate behavior.

100% agree with you. I’m a stepparent so I don’t get to make the decision myself- but I don’t share in the lie, I feign ignorance re. Santa & celebrate the seasonal change at solstice instead of Xmas- they’ve embraced that as my tradition.
