I saw a relevant exhibit in the Natural History Museum in London today. They have lithified sand ripples, one set formed by waves and one by current.

The above paper, along with agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10...., describe a novel approach for calculating the pressure field from standard (e.g., at 11 Hz sampling frequency) stereo or tomographic particle image velocimetry.
