If we don’t fix the climate, pollution, and nature crises, we can’t fix anything. They are already actively amplifying poverty, hunger, and division. They are what stand between all of us, regardless of geography or ideology, and the better future we all seek. That's why I'm convinced that ...

In 2018, Meta decided “clean energy” and “climate change” were politically sensitive topics, and demanded that I - a climate scientist - register as a political org to post and boost posts on them.
I refused, and my page has been shadow banned since then. For 7 years. Until this week, that is 😳

If you take the time to read the whole Gates memo (which I did), the bulk of the content was mostly solid and encouraging. Really!
It was the FRAME that was off--very off, from the first line.
And when your framing is off, then how you make decisions and set priorities is off. THAT'S the problem.

A woman told me today I looked like my cat. I took that as a compliment. Who doesn’t want to look fluffy and relaxed 99% of the time, all the while being capable of fending off evildoers, trolls, and younger bros with a ninja-like back leg whenever needed? 😸

The best part about #iucncongress is seeing online friends IRL. Who knew @pammcelwee.bsky.social and I were sisters separated at birth? And I’ve been connected with Neeshad Safi of the Arab Youth Climate Movement for years; but getting to talk w him and two new AYCM members? As they say, priceless 💚

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.
Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

It’s been clear since day one that climate denial and vaccine denial are part of the same toxic stew of ideologically-motivated opinions; but I am genuinely confused by number three on this list.
Is the “alien scam” claiming that they do exist? Or that they don’t? 🤔

My favourite Jane Goodall quotes....so many, so to the point, so wise. How different the world would be if enough people listened to her.

I am forever grateful I had the opportunity to speak at the Starmus festival with Jane Goodall just last May.
I shared how she was the first image of a scientist my four-year-old self ever saw, and how her words still guide my own science advocacy work every day.
