I'm not saying I've ALWAYS been neurotic, but when I was about 8 I read in the Childcraft "Space" Encyclopaedia that the Sun would die and destroy the solar system in about 5 billion years, and it made me so uncomfortable I never opened that volume again.

I'm halfway through How to Sell a Haunted House, by Grady Hendrix.
Hendrix's strength as a writer is his ability to combine the banal horrors of real life (sibling rivalry, coparenting) with pants-wettingly terrifying supernatural sequences.
Funny, scary, surprising.
