When I say folks can not afford a pay decrease. I mean that literally. They can not be housed, own a car and buy food with a pay decrease for many grant recipients. Some who work with our most vulnerable populations are looking at 15-18$ hourly. You can’t build a life on 18$ an hour.

You have a workforce that works so hard and loves their work so much. They already get paid shit to do it, and they do it happily. Describing it as a dream job.

The other thing to this is I know many nonprofit workers who would do this. Even if they couldn’t afford it( which to be clear they can’t) because they absolutely care and believe in the work they do. Do you get what I’m saying.

Here’s the thing. Many many many grant recipients couldn’t take a 30% decrease and live above the poverty line, almost every nonprofit worker I’ve met is already working 2 jobs or more.
