Thrilled to have a barn owl in the nest box we put up at the end of the garden!

A few pics from recent event in Nidderdale with some #curlew training to kick off the season. Staff and volunteers from various groups came together to practice setting up nest fences & we also had a demo from a thermal imaging drone. Good to share ideas with likeminded people

As our wetland creation project draws to a close, it's been good to get out and visit some of our new sites to gather some data and see what is starting to move in. Frog spawn spotted in several of our new ponds and scrapes already.

With Spring the ecology season arrives. Today was spent collecting data for an amphibian research project. Barn owl spotted this evening. Then presented my new recording app to a group of curlew volunteers while a bat flew around the room.

Taking part in @bsbibotany.bsky.social's #NewYearPlantHunt today. Kept an eye out on our walk along #thecindertrack in Whitby - 9 species found.

Nearing the completion of our wetland creation project in Nidderdale. Hoping these scrapes prove popular with feeding curlew and other wading birds in the spring.

This beautiful photo taken by our Nidderdale National Landscape #wetlandcreation project officer shows two of three ponds restored on a small nature reserve. They will greatly add to the biodiversity value of this mixed habitat site. Photo (c) Christy Irish.

Shout out to YWT’s #TeamWilder for organising the event at Tang Hall community centre York this afternoon. A good range of talks and workshops + yummy snacks! Great to meet like minded people & share ideas and experiences for greening our communities.

Moving over from the dark side today, so here's a selection of the things I am interested in. Basically, wildlife conservation and nature!
