I don't pretend I'm perfect.I have blindspots. If you have something helpful to say, I'm all ears!Send me a link so I can inform myself. But I'm not gonna fight with strangers, and I'm autistic so don't bother with memes. Use words and be willing to respond.
Stupid us to debate the merits and complexities and humanity involved when there will always be moderate democrats (diet Republicans) who care more about holding their seats.

Give @ahylton26.bsky.social her own show. She's a star. @elisejordan.bsky.social can join a few times a week. But i get a headache when @ayman.msnbc.com and @crampell.bsky.social talk over each other as if they're paid per point made. I liked Ayman's show and when Catherine is a guest but not this.

Has anyone on this show been able to finish their sentence tonight? They can't stop to breathe without someone taking over, whether finishing what they were planning to say or completely hijacking it to make a different point. I deal enough with this bs at work. I'd love to hear a complete thought.🤯

And there is an incredible amount of momentum right now. I don't want to do this again next year. We just have to figure out the price we're willing to pay. 2/2

That's a great point. Not everything will be reversible when Dems are back in power. We may reach a tipping point where the GOP has rigged so much of the process (voter ID laws, redistricting) and we've stayed politely quiet because we're not in power that there is no going back. 1/2
November 9, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Yep, and that is why I'm so torn. I know what's best in the long run, if this was all hypothetical, but I'm not going to tell someone they must go on a hunger strike to fix this messed up system.
November 9, 2025 at 8:50 PM
And that's what makes what Republicans are doing so evil. They're playing chicken with us knowing we'll cave at starving children before they do. Not exactly Christian morals.
November 9, 2025 at 8:46 PM
I listen to what they're saying to guide me. The federal workers seem to want to hold out. The moms whose kids can't get SNAP benefits? Not so much. 2/2
November 9, 2025 at 8:42 PM
If everyone felt your way, I wouldn't hesitate. I agree it's the right thing to do big picture. But I can't speak on behalf of those who will suffer because I'm not one of them. 1/2
November 9, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Oh for sure. Every time I hear him speak, I wonder how someone can be so detached and untethered to reality. But he does seem to match Johnson's strategy so we should consider that Johnson may have the same thinking and not assume he's almost willing to cave.
November 9, 2025 at 8:33 PM
But what about the federal workers whose cars are being repossessed or getting evicted? What about the kids and seniors on SNAP? Irreparable harm is being done to them in the real world.
November 9, 2025 at 8:27 PM
That's a good point! The bill the House passed is only good until Nov 21. So Johnson can claim he did his job by passing a CR for now but not for much longer. They'll have to reconvene and pass a new CR, right?
November 9, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Right!?!? Why aren't they camping out on the White House lawn?
November 9, 2025 at 8:09 PM
I agree the White House Press Corps is completely toothless. But if/when they do dare to ask a real question, Trump just tells the reporter they're bad people, that it was a hateful question, that they have low IQ, and that they work for fake news. Why does he not have to answer the question? 🤯
November 9, 2025 at 8:06 PM
I'm torn. I want to wait it out. I worry that Brendan Buck is right and that Johnson will not budge based on principle/future precedent, and if the victory we want (to get ACA extensions before we reopen the govt) is not an option. I think democrats have a better chance at negotiating with Trump.
November 9, 2025 at 8:01 PM
She robotically spouts out unrealistic talking points as if this is an academic debate. She looked scared when Jonathan asked if agreeing to open the govt now (so the people can take over the fight) might still be a win. Does she think we can wait out fellow robot Johnson? That guy is heartless.
November 9, 2025 at 7:55 PM
He victim blames. Why would any Democrat vote to go back to the situation we were in? Things aren't so simple. 🤦‍♀️
November 9, 2025 at 7:41 PM
#theweekend I just connected the dots on what you've been saying that the Senate can open the govt without the House ever coming back in session (to deal with Ms Grijalva and her 218th signature) But the Senate is making their own deals, right? Are they even trying to pass the House's bill exactly?
November 9, 2025 at 7:33 PM
Why is nobody calling out Jeffries? He doesn't get to take credit for Tuesday. He and Schumer just spout talking points. I know it's sacrilege for media to challenge leadership, but book me and I'll explain how this type of sassy capitulation is no longer good enough. PS Big fan

Every time I see him on tv, I ask myself how he can be so tone deaf. Why he doesn't put up a fight. What his opposition plan is. He'll never read my posts but I feel compelled to say it anyway. And I get comfort from seeing similar posts from others so I hope my posts might return the favor.

Although your meme calling me white is a sick burn, it's neither informative nor persuasive enough to change my stance on anything. Assuming you're not just trolling, I'd like to learn more about your point of view, including how and where my whiteness is coming into play. Please reach out.

I'm sure this is weird. You had reposted one of my replies to Hakeem Jeffries referring to me (I think) as an envelope. I'd like to understand what you are talking about so I can inform myself and learn more. Is there a link you can send me so you don't have to spend your emotional labor?
November 4, 2025 at 2:35 AM
I searched through the person's previous posts and they had used the term envelope, starting a few months ago. So not a typo. But no definition.
