Loving this podcast from Gemma Peters CEO of Macmillian. “Start with the truth” is such a brilliant principle for any culture changing communication and she is right, so often forgotten in leaders well intended ‘land this news well’ thinking.

Sometimes people say ‘I wouldn’t know what to say if my Mum couldn’t respond’ but I just rattle on like she hasn’t got dementia. I moan about work, my kids, bring broke, the washing and my sister. Normal mum/daughter conversation 🤣. She is a fab listener 🥰 (Probably feigning sleep so I go home!)

When my mum was diagnosed with dementia, Neil Mapes (neilmapes.medium.com/about) said to connect myself to a smell she might remember long after not knowing me. 17 years on I still do it, every letter and visit. I hope my smell today might trigger a little something in her. 💙

Glorious morning driving through the Lakes on my way to visit Alzheimer’s Society Scotland in Glasgow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙. Had a brief pitgestop to congratulate the Insurance Against Dementia Board for hitting their £10m fundraising target. 🙌🏼 Time for a break ☕️ #Tebay
