I just popped on here to check its running this year. Its a small annual festive joy to admire the inflatable mattresses and dodgy duvet covers

As a young lawyer I often drafted wills. The most alarming bequest I remember drafting was 'my gold pulling knickers' for a lady well into her 70s. Had to delicately check the executor would know what this was

Watched with the older kiddo, she enjoyed it. I felt bummed that if it was made now he'd go back to 1995

Have you pressed it?!

I was watching Back to the Future on the weekend and a quick Google revealed I'm older than the actor playing Doc Brown. Not yet at the Meldrew point though

My brothers and I didn't have some key vaccinations because our family GP went very woo woo in the 70s. The result? We caught everything, I can explain in bleak detail how awful it is to have mumps, whooping cough etc

Lovely, I grew up close by, its very magical

Been hugely disappointed with the BBC breathless coverage of this event featuring the scrapings of the worst governments in my lifetime

I don't read hardbacks because I read in bed and if you nod off reading a hardback it hurts when it smashes into face

I love a situation where the only option is to read. Commiserations about the poorly 9 year old hope they are better soon

We've been touring the islands and Highlands. Currently near Loch Tay and its a great area, plenty to do, lots of great local food. A solid choice for an outdoorsy family

Ah, right, thanks. I'm new to this game, my mistake. Thought it was a uk/us spelling thing
July 24, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Is there a spelling issue? Lute should read loot? I thought lute was a type of stringed instrument. Looting happens during a riot

The news was rather unexpected but pleasing. There was a local election on my 18th birthday, the polling officials wished me happy birthday!

That is trivially true. The choice for pedestrians should not be between being knocked down by a car or a bike! All road users should follow rules and be mindful of each other and pedestrians
July 14, 2025 at 8:04 PM
I think you have misunderstood. Pedestrians are still vulnerable to cyclists and that needs to be recognised. I'm also a cyclist. But I suffered a facial injury from a cyclist not 'nothing'. If that cyclist had used his brakes to slow as he approached pedestrians I wouldn't have a facial scar

I'm in UK and was run over by a cyclist last autumn. Police only ticketed him for no lights at night. I got 12 hours in A&E for xrays on my then waiting for a max fac specialist to fix the deep gash above my eyebrow. Cyclist didn't even apologise to me as I lay dazed and bleeding on a tram line

Boden swimwear is good and has options without terrifyingly high cut legs

Tried it as an audio book a couple of years ago but gave up, annoyed by the implausible financial story. Feel vindicated
July 6, 2025 at 8:56 AM
I've got the reverse of this. About 5 years ago my dad in his 70s was diagnosed with autism since then I've come to wonder if my not quite fitting in, all the ways I've felt a bit out of kilter might have another explanation
June 19, 2025 at 9:00 PM
Oh, interesting question
June 19, 2025 at 6:44 PM
I have this book and agree its excellent
May 16, 2025 at 9:48 PM
My guess is they thought it would be an f-you to national trust, I think i read they had some disagreement with NT,but hadn't counted on the strength of public feeling at all. It is in no way excusable tho

Despite what I hoped breastfeeding was a struggle with my first. She was combi fed from day 1 and every medical professional made it their mission to make me miserable about it. I stopped getting her weighed because I hated the judgement on me
April 26, 2025 at 3:07 PM
I was about to return from maternity leave. 2 promotions came up in my depth and I wasn't even told about them. They went to 2 men without a day's experience in the niche area of the departments work
