Also, all the little things (seemed to be) true, even if they didn’t work in the big picture, and that was used to justify said spirals.

The mental illness metaphor actually makes perfect sense!!!

I remember back during some of my darkest days, my depression/anxiety/insecurities made PERFECT SENSE because A: I had a very subjective perspective and B: they FELT true. I over read into things to provide evidence for my spirals.
