Two signed and personalized paperbacks from me (I will ship) currently going for a song in the Pulp Literature auction, which goes until the end of November. They would make nice gifts. app.galabid.com/kpr2025/item...

I've got the Greatest Hits on while I work on a secret project this afternoon. Jolene really is great. Hard to make that song not great, in fairness.

Can confirm, and here is a photo of me that day (cropped to remove other people) shortly before my sister ran me over. I was ok -- had a sore arm for a bit!

Hey book readers! If you're in Ottawa tonight, come on by Perfect Books at 7 p.m. for the launch of Premee's latest book, The First Thousand Trees, which is excellent. I'll be her wingman and we'll have a good time. Hope to see you there.

My favourite thing about having Can*Con at the Brookstreet hotel this year was the amazing art. Never seen such cool art in a hotel before. This was in my room.

I've been watching a lot of What We Do in the Shadows lately, which is good for spooky season and also for a deepening sense of alienation from human society.

Blurbs for Mercutio! I'm so honoured and grateful to @cjlavigne.com @jelenawrites.bsky.social @premeemohamed.com and the brilliant but I think Blueskyless Kate Story for taking the time to read the book and say lovely things about it.

Friends who buy from Waterstones, it would be an amazing boost for Mercutio's fortunes if you took advantage of the 25% off on pre-orders until Oct. 17. Use the code OCTOBER25. In the next post, I'll show you some of the endorsements the book's been getting! www.waterstones.com/book/mercuti...

The stuffing. Lots of sage although I used dry this time because I had no fresh. Smells great. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate.

One week! I just finished printing out some story chapbooks I'll be giving away at my kaffeeklatsch and signing. Premee and I have got our "Holy Shit, How Did We Get Here" plans sorted although we cannot promise we'll arrive at an answer to the question. Here's my schedule.

If you are going to be in Ottawa Oct. 20, you should come see me and @premeemohamed.com at the launch for her excellent novella, The First Thousand Trees. At the wonderful community hub that is Perfect Books.

Every time this crosses my feed, I think about Bruegel's Procession to Calvary, almost the inverse of this image -- Christ bearing the cross is in the centre, but hard to make out. Instead, the focus is on the people's relationship to ritualized suffering: hypocrisies, cowardice, repression, fear.

My schedule for Can*Con! My first time being guest of honour anywhere, and I have absolutely no chill about it. If you come to my kaffeeklatsch (sign up required) or my signing (no sign up required), I'll have some chapbooks I'm printing up to give away, while they last. Please say hi if you see me.

When I was in England recently I stopped into The Bookshop in Lee-on-the-Solent and signed copies of The Tapestry of Time for their book club (part of which takes place at the Royal Haslar Hospital redevelopment, which made me go "the one in the Time Team episode??")
