🚨Game-changing news for Mixenden and Illingworth 🚨

I’ve secured £20 million of investment through Labour’s Pride in Place programme, that’s £2 million a year for the next decade.

Local people will be in charge of deciding how it’s spent. Hear more from Secretary of State 👇🏼

The Prime Minister has asked me to serve as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Business and Trade.

I’m so proud to take on this role alongside a superb team led by Peter Kyle.

I can’t wait to get started delivering this government’s pro-growth, pro-workers’ rights agenda.

Real wages have grown more in the first 10 months of this Labour government than in the first 10 years under the Tories.

Labour is investing in Britain’s renewal, and rebuilding our economy.

On the 80th anniversary of VE Day, it’s been moving to see Halifax communities come together to honour those who gave so much for our freedom. Their sacrifice ended years of suffering and began a journey toward peace - a legacy that still shapes the values we hold dear today. 🇬🇧

Delighted to welcome Minister @simonlightwood.org.uk to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary to open their new free breakfast club!🍎🍞

Our local schools are leading the way in Labour’s early breakfast club rollout that will save families money and break down barriers to opportunity.

To celebrate #WorldBookDay, I joined Halifax Academy primary students on a special visit to No.10! 📚✏ They met the Education Secretary @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social, learned to illustrate books & even rapped with MC Grammar (yes, I joined in! 🎤).

The first duty of the Govt is to keep our country safe. Today the Prime Minister announced defence spending will rise to 2.5% of GDP from April 2027—the biggest investment since the Cold War.
In an ever more dangerous world, it is vital British people are protected. We’re delivering on that promise.

I’m delighted St Joseph’s & Trinity Academy in Halifax are among the first schools to benefit from Labour’s free breakfast clubs! 🥣

Breakfast clubs boost attendance, attainment and life chances. That's why this Labour government will roll them out across all primary schools 🌹

Today marks three years since Russia’s brutal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine—a time of immense suffering, but also incredible resilience. Honoured to speak at Halifax Minster alongside Halifax Ukrainian Club to mark this solemn day.

The UK stands with Ukraine, now and always.

This week I was honoured to sign @het.org.uk Book of Commitment to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

We must honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as pay tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who continue to work tirelessly to educate society today.

This week, the Conservative Party leader proudly admitted that the Tories want to means test the state pension.

Whilst Labour have committed to the triple lock, putting £470 into pensioners’ pockets in April, the Tories want to take your state pension away.

I’m delighted that the Renters’ Rights Bill, which will introduce caps on advance payments, abolish ‘no fault’ evictions and tackle unreasonable rent increases, has reached its last stages in Parliament today.

Thanks to everyone who came to meet with me at my surgery today at the Elsie Whiteley Centre.

Surgeries are a great opportunity to talk to me about what matters to you and bring up any concerns that I can help with and sort out.

Always a pleasure to meet and support local residents 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️🙋
